Bae Ji-hwan (24, Pittsburgh Pirates) scored the game-winning run and helped his team to victory.
Bae went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in the bottom of the sixth inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 1-1 Major League Baseball game against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on 4 April. Pittsburgh won 4-3, extending its winning streak to four games.
Bae started the game off the bench. It came after going 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout against St. Louis on the 3rd. Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton sent Brian Reynolds to centre field, leaving Bae as the late-game joker.
The game was tight. After St. Louis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Wilson Contreras’ solo shot to right-centre field, Pittsburgh’s Brian Hayes tied the game at 1-1 with a solo shot to left-centre field in the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth, leadoff hitter Mark Matthias reached on an error by the third baseman, prompting Shelton to pull out his pinch-hitter, Bae Ji-Hwan. Bae took second on Jason Delay’s sacrifice bunt, but was cautious about stealing.
One out later, Reynolds walked to put runners on first and second, and Connor Cho hit a two-run double to left field to make it 3-1. It was a big enough hit that Bae scored from second and Reynolds from first. Pittsburgh added an RBI single from Carlos Santana to make it 4-1.
Bae stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh after leadoff hitter Tukupita Makano led off with a single. Bae laid down a sacrifice bunt, sending Makano to second base. However, the follow-up hit was stranded and Pittsburgh was unable to score.
Pittsburgh gave up a late two-run single to Nolan Gorman in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to 3-4, but held on for the win. 토토사이트
