After finishing second in their group and reaching the round of 16 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023, Korea’s head coach Kim Eun-Joong has vowed to deliver results in the tournament’s single matches.
“All the teams in the tournament have colors and are strong teams, so we need to be more prepared,” Kim told FIFA+ after the 0-0 draw with Gambia in their third Group F match at the Mendoza Stadium in Argentina on Monday (June 29).
“We are cautious because it is a one-off game, but we will prepare well to get a result,” he added.
South Korea, who had earlier secured a spot in the round of 16 for the third consecutive tournament with the result of the second leg, moved to 1-2-2 (5 points) with the draw, finishing second in Group F behind Gambia (2-1-1, 7 points).
South Korea will face Ecuador, who finished second in Group B, in the Round of 16 on June 2.
“I sent out players who hadn’t played much in the past,” said Kim, who used a rotation in preparation for the round of 16, “and I made the starting lineup to ensure their stamina.”
“The players who came on as substitutes in the second half tried to maintain their game sense for the next game. We substituted them one after another according to the plan.” 먹튀검증
