After losing the Suwon Derby, Samsung Suwon head coach Kim Byung-soo revealed why he had to choose striker Ahn Byung-jun despite his injury.
Suwon lost 1-2 against Suwon FC in the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 Round 16 ‘Suwon Derby’ at Suwon World Cup Stadium on 3 March.
After conceding back-to-back goals from Yoon Beom-garam and Oh In-pyo, Suwon managed to pull one back from defender Han Ho-gang, but could not move off the bottom of the table (2W, 2D, 11L, 8P) as they suffered their second straight Suwon Derby defeat and third straight league loss.
In his post-match press conference, Kim said, “We started with a messy atmosphere. “Ahn Byung-jun was not in good shape as he injured his groin adductor muscle three days ago. Acosti did a great job in the striker’s role, but it was difficult to utilise the side we had planned when he came off.”
“I think our players tried their best to score. We lost the game today, but we gave as much effort as we could and it will motivate us to work harder in the future.”
When asked about the second-half substitutions, he said, “Our number one option came on. “The plan was to make substitutions as time went on, but injuries and poor form interrupted that plan. We wanted to make more changes in midfield, but we decided to stay the course. In the end, football is judged by winning and losing,” he argued.
Asked about the choice to start Ahn despite his injury, Kim said, “We don’t have Mulicic at the moment and Ahn is the only striker. I don’t think I had a choice.”
Suwon are not getting the results they deserve.
메이저사이트 “If you look for the cause, there is no end to it. I think the reporters are half experts, and I think they know exactly what the cause is. I don’t want to point out the cause, because it’s hard to evaluate if one chance leads to a goal. If you keep giving away chances, then you can talk about the reasons, but I think it’s a natural phenomenon. Conceding an early goal is very bad.”
With the summer transfer window approaching, Kim has the opportunity to strengthen his squad. “There is a temperature difference between the fans, the club and the media,” he said.
“The first priority is money. You have to find players within that range. As you know, it’s not easy to find good players in the summer transfer window. With that in mind, we have a few names on our list and we’re going to make contact.”
